Places of interest
In Terento and the surrounding area, there are plenty of interesting places to visit with children, such as the seven centuries-old water mills that are still in use today and the extraordinary earth pyramids. For some family fun, a visit to the KronAction adventure park in Issengo is a must.
The nearby town of Brunico will enchant you with the picturesque streets of its historic centre, the artisan workshops and the many boutiques inviting you to shop. In the medieval castle, the Messner Mountain Museum Ripa is well worth a visit, documenting the lives of mountain peoples.
As well as the views, the summit of Plan de Corones offers cultural highlights such as LUMEN, the museum of mountain photography, and the Messner Mountain Museum Corones, dedicated to the history of traditional mountaineering. For an adrenaline rush, try the incredible giant swing.
If you’re interested in art, don’t miss Bressanone, with its splendid arcades, ancient houses and shops to suit all tastes. The cathedral, the bishop’s palace and the wonderful Novacella Abbey are just some of the main attractions of this noble city.
A little further afield but thoroughly charming, Bolzano is a lively city with a magnificent Gothic cathedral, picturesque arcades, bustling squares, plenty of shopping opportunities and an archaeological museum that houses the famous mummy of Ötzi, the Iceman.
